Building research capacity: highlights from Bamako’s second International Workshop

From January 6th to 7th, 2025, I was honoured to facilitate the second international workshop on research project writing and online data production tools in insecure contexts, hosted in Bamako. Following the success of the first workshop in Ouagadougou, this event was another step forward in equipping researchers with practical skills to navigate the complexities of modern research in challenging environments like ours in the Sahel.

Reflections on the 2024 Sahel symposium: presenting HealthyMaman and stimulating partnerships

On december 16-17, I participated in the 2024 sahel symposium, an engaging hybrid and bilingual event co-hosted by Uppsala University’s forum for Africa studies and the Institut des Sciences Humaines (ISH) in bamako. The symposium, themed “citizen perspectives on societal challenges,” brought together scholars and practitioners to discuss research and innovative approaches to key issues in the Sahel.

My experience as a trainer at the International workshop in Ouagadougou

In the fast-evolving world of research, especially in the context of data collection and analysis, keeping up with advanced tools can be challenging for academics and researchers. This was particularly evident during a recent international workshop i ‘led’ on research project writing and online data production tools in insecure contexts. With participants from various backgrounds, the workshop aimed to introduce powerful and accessible tools for data analysis, even to those with minimal technical experience.
